Operation Rudolph gives quality hampers to those who face a difficult Christmas in Nottingham. These 'hampers of hope' have items that are carefully chosen, lovingly packed and faithfully delivered to contacts of the church and those recommended by local agencies.
The concept is simple and could be easily replicated even on a much smaller scale. It does however require months of planning and organisation by a few committed people, prior to all the volunteers helping assemble and deliver the hampers over a three day period. Sufficient space is required to set up a production line with all stock (and possibly storage in the weeks leading up to this) as well as stacking packed hampers awaiting collection/delivery. A computer, transportation, financial resources and commitment from the congregation are all vital.
It costs approximately £20,000 for 1,000 hampers including contents and packing and other running costs associated with the project. This is in addition to any stock received through corporate donations.
