Description

Here is an idea to think about for next year.

'Christmas Lunch on Jesus' is an outreach project initiated by Jesus House in London, which distributes free Christmas hampers to residents of the most deprived wards in the London Borough of Barnet. They focus particularly on making sure children and single parents living in deprived conditions enjoy a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. Jesus House has training material available for groups who may be interested in starting their own 'Christmas Lunch on Jesus' community project.

Rationale

The 'Christmas Lunch on Jesus' project serves to alleviate the cost of Christmas for those in our community who might not otherwise be able to afford it. The idea is easy to replicate in other areas where people are in need and it's a great opportunity to work with other churches in your area to show the love of Jesus in a practical way at Christmas.

Outcome

One family wrote to the project: 'I would just like to thank you for all the good work you all do, by allowing us to have such beautiful hampers this year again. It is so appreciated not only by me but by my daughter too, Amanda, who has two children with disabilities. You really do not know how much this has helped out. Once again, thank you all so much, and may God bless you always. Maureen and Amanda.
