Just as Plough Sunday, Rogation Sunday and Harvest represented key moments in the agricultural cycle (not least in terms of effort), a church can connect its prayer for different people into the rhythm and pressure points of their working year.

These can include:

  • Sheep farmers in lambing season

  • Accountants at the end of the tax year

  • Kids at exam time

  • Teachers at the beginning and start of terms

  • Shop assistants during sales

  • Hospital workers during August, when newly qualified doctors start.

An example calendar is available to download from www.hopetogether.org.uk so you can ask people in the church to fill it in and then perhaps display it.

Pray for people in your church, community and further afield as they hit the most pressured times in their working lives. God changes things through the prayers of his people. This is an opportunity to focus your prayers to identify with others, and to change their situations, when their work lives are most challenging.

Pressure relived for others, during their most challenging times at work.
