At our church gathering on Christmas morning we attempted the mannequin challenge--a viral internet craze of 2016. We got everyone to freeze and walked around with a camera, making 20-second video. All we needed was one minute of time and the use of someone's smartphone!

For us, this was essentially a sermon prop; it was linked in to the message and was a way of engaging everyone.

The added bonus was that it generated a short video that could be shared across social media that provided a window in on the church community participating in something accessible and fun. As our video was shared and viewed, we hoped that something of the life and joy of our community at Christmas was there to see. Although All Saints Worcester took part in the mannequin challenge during Christmas, the idea also works well at Easter with a scene from Jesus' resurrection, perhaps when the women find the stone rolled away. Additional requirements: Make sure to share the video on your church social media accounts, and to ask those who participated to share it on theirs! This helps spread the fun and joy.
